Traditionally used in East Asian Medicine to relieve symptoms of a common cold and flu, and the associated primary indications of a sore throat with no thirst, general aches and pains, and sweating; and the secondary indications of muscular aches and pains, or an aversion to coldness, or mild fever, or nausea, or loss of appetite, or tiredness and fatigue, or reduce the occurrence of headaches associated with a common cold and flu pattern.

Cold & Flu 2.0 is used for common cold and flu symptoms that must present with a sore throat, no thirst, general aches and pains, and some sweating.
Bupleurum Root 12g, Cinnamon Twig 9g, Scutellaria Root 4.5g, White Peony Root 4.5g, Prepared Pinellia 6g, Ginseng Root 4.5g, Fresh Ginger Root 4.5g, Honey-Fried Licorice Root 4.5g, Chinese Red Date 4.5g.
Take 3 capsules three times daily between meals.

Cold & Flu 2.0 builds on the structure of Cold & Flu 1.0, with the addition of Cinnamon Twig and White Peony to regulate the surface layer. Addressing both sweating and muscular tension and discomfort.


As with Cold & Flu 1.0, thirst remains normal or absent in both formulas. However, once sweating and generalised body aches are present, it indicates that the surface layer is involved and Cold & Flu 2.0 becomes the appropriate selection.

Cold & Flu 3.0 is indicated where there is pronounced thirst, sweating, and generalised aches and pains. Cold & Flu 2.0 presents with normal to no thirst, which is a clear indication for a separate formula structure.


The absence of thirst distinguishes this blend from Cold & Flu 3.0 and indicates a different formula structure is required. In contrast, Cold & Flu 3.0 is defined by the presence of marked thirst, along with sweating and generalised aches and pains.
